SOPHIE’S BUSINESS SOLVES EVERYDAY PROBLEMS WHILE QUIETLY HELPING THE PLANET

- Emma Levett

THE SEEDS OF CHANGE

Sophie Kovic’s son, Archie, had just started school and - in quite a radical request for 2016 - he was asked not to bring any plastic in his lunch box and that included the lunch box itself.

“I was very challenged by that,” Sophie, 38, from NSW's Northern Rivers tells WHO. “He also didn’t want any food touching other food and I was racking my brain how to do that. One day, I sent in a glass jar with hummus and got a message from the teacher saying she knew I was trying, but glass wasn’t allowed in school.”

But while Sophie was sure there must be a practical solution, all her searching didn’t find a suitable one. Running a successful app development company that didn't bring her the joy she craved, she decided to do a complete career pivot and fix the lunch box crisis herself.

“I thought I could solve the problem and make an impact [on the planet],” she says.
