THOUSANDS JOIN THE ONCE-PEACEFUL PROTESTS, AS THE CITY DESCENDS INTO CHAOS

What began as a largely peaceful demonstration in Los Angeles attended by a few hundred people has flared into a full-scale riot. There are fires and tear gassings, an Australian and an English journalist have been shot by law enforcement with rubber bullets, and the eyes of the world are watching as Donald Trump and LA Governor Gavin Newsom publicly spat about how to control the ever-growing tensions.

HOW THE RIOTS BEGAN

Controlling immigration was a huge part of Trump's election promise, but on June 6, as immigration agents stormed into an LA hardware store, a garment factory and a warehouse, sweeping up undocumented migrants in a very public crackdown, people were shocked.
