A FESTIVAL FULL OF EMOTIONS

A glittering array of stars attended the 82nd Venice Film Festival and there were tears of joy on the red carpet - plus the odd tantrum

Gondolas, glamour and gossip - what else could it be but the Venice Film Festival, which was in full swing last week as it celebrated its 82nd year. But while the festival's main focus is the latest movies, all eyes were on the A-listers' dazzling red-carpet looks.

British actress Emily Blunt led the way in a shimmering Tamara Ralph gown. The star, currently filming the eagerly awaited Devil Wears Prada sequel, was in Venice to support her new movie The Smashing Machine, starring Dwayne "The Rock' Johnson.

But the drama wasn't only on screen that night. Following the premiere, Dwayne broke down in tears after the film received a 15-minute standing ovation.

In the movie, the former WWE wrestler - slimmed down and looking dapper in a grey Prada suit at the festival - stars as UFC champion Mark Kerr and his sensitive performance is already triggering rumblings of an Oscar nod.
