With his signature mix of sincerity and humour, Prince Harry honoured his host country by offering up a few words in German before noting that the time between last year’s games in The Hague and this year’s event “went very fast.

“We went from stroopwafel to schnitzels in the blink of an eye,” he joked, referring to famous Dutch and German dishes.
