FIGHTING FOR CAUSES CLOSE TO HER HEART - THE DUCHESS OF EDINBURGH

She is one of the Royal Family’s unsung heroes, travelling the globe to support good causes and bringing hope to those she meets.

Recently, the Duchess of Edinburgh was in Ethiopia to highlight two of the issues she is most passionate about – preventing avoidable blindness and raising awareness of the scourge of gender-based violence in conflict.

Sophie, 58, began her journey in the East African nation of Tigray, where she visited the Sabacare Internally Displaced People (IDP) Camp, which houses more than 16,000 people – mostly women and girls forced to flee their homes due to civil war. And she brought smiles to the children’s faces as she admired their clay models and played games.
