As The Bear returns, Jeremy Allen White discusses cut fingers, his heartthrob status and becoming The Boss

When dramedy Shameless came to an end in 2021, Jeremy Allen White wasn’t sure what to do next. Then the role of The Bear’s Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto came along.

“I was maybe feeling a little bit stuck and uninspired in a similar way to Carmy in season 1 [of The Bear],” he confessed. “I was trying to reinvent myself, to make a new path for myself, so there was a similarity there.”

The 34-year-old New York native is certainly on the right track, with the fourth season of his hit show returning, along with a new film, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, in which he plays The Boss.

Here, the actor shares his respect for the restaurant industry, thoughts on his superstar status and why he’s not worrying about the future.
