Karen Gillan talks motherhood and facing the end of the world in her new film, The Life of Chuck

She’s known for playing diverse roles, from the alien warrior Nebula in the Marvel franchise to Doctor Who's sidekick Amy Pond.

Now the Scottish actress Karen Gillan is taking on another formidable character in the apocalyptic tale The Life of Chuck.

The 37-year-old star, who welcomed her first child, Clementine, with her husband, the American comedian Nick Kocher, last year, stars in the new movie alongside Tom Hiddleston.

Karen plays Felicia, a woman reunited with her ex-husband as the world is about to end.

Here she opens up about the role, meeting the author Stephen King – on whose short story the film is based – and being a new mother…

Karen, tell us about The Life of Chuck…

“I would describe it as not really horror but scary in its own way. It’s an experimental film about someone dealing with the end of their life in a very imaginative way.
