So there were high expectations for a third lavish event, held just one week before the pair tied the knot.

Last weekend, it was revealed that pop superstar Justin Bieber had been picked to entertain VIPs at the traditional sangeet ceremony, with reports suggesting he was paid $10m (£7.8m) to jet into Mumbai.

Anant, 29, is the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani – one of India’s wealthiest people, with a fortune of £90bn – and his family have spared no expense on the wedding.

Justin, 30, whose model wife Hailey Bieber is expecting their first child, posted photos and videos of his performance on social media, revealing that he sang a string of his hits – including Baby, Peaches and I’m the One – to the guests’ delight.
