Putting career over personal happiness haunted him to the end

CHAMBERLAIN'S TORTURE CHAMBER ― LIFE IN THE CLOSET!

Richard Chamberlain admitted he would have been happier living openly

HOLLYWOOD heart-throb Richard Chamberlain went to his grave a tormented man because he put his career above his gay identity!

The dashing screen idol, beloved by generations of women, died of a stroke March 29, just two days short of his 91st birthday.

"Richard was tortured over not admitting his truth years earlier," a source close to the Three Musketeers star tells GLOBE.

In the early 1960s, when Richard scored his break-through role as TV's handsome Dr. Kildare, his picture was on every teenage girl's bedroom wall. He embellished his ladies-man image by squiring the likes of Carol Burnett and Angie Dickinson around Tinseltown.
