On August 24, 2024, calligrapher Ward Dunham passed away.

He was buried on September 3 in Half Moon Bay, California, in a very small ceremony for family and close friends. Dunham is remembered as a master calligrapher of large stature and outsized personality who, simultaneously, had the gentlest of touches with a stylus and was ever at the ready to help a friend or instruct a student.
