A classic Gallic bistro revisits favorite dishes on the Upper East Side

- STORY BY TERRY ZARIKIAN

The French Dispatch

THIS NYC CLASSIC has been resurrected thanks to the extraordinary talents of chefs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson, the creators of Frenchette and Le Rock, two popular French-inspired restaurants.

Established in 1937, the original changed hands a few times, and its clientele evolved into a mix of old and young culinarians seeking authentic, delicious French food.

The cozy décor hasn't changed much. It's less cluttered than it used to be, still retaining its banquettes, red checkered tablecloths, walls covered with mirrors and wooden panels, and the perennial black bistro chairs.
