CAR MAKERS DON'T really want to sell a lot of petrol models in the UK at the moment, because if they do, they face big Government fines. And this has been a problem for Toyota, due to its most affordable car - the Aygo X - being petrol powered. But now there’s a replacement: the new Aygo X Hybrid.

More specifically, our pictures show the GR Sport version, which is marked out by details such as a black bonnet, a mesh front grille and sportier-looking alloy wheels.

In addition, the GR Sport gets a bespoke suspension setup and quicker steering in an effort to make it feel more agile. However, all Aygo X Hybrids are claimed to be quieter than the old petrol car, thanks to extra sound-deadening insulation. And all of them feature slimmer, more angular headlights.
