In contrast, Skoda hopes the Elroq vRS will be a thrill ride you do want to experience daily. This new electric sports SUV retains a keen focus on comfort and practicality, despite offering spicier performance than other versions of the Elroq - our reigning Family Electric SUV of the Year.

With two motors, four-wheel drive and a total power output of 335bhp (53bhp more than the previously range-topping Elroq 85), the vRS feels sprightly enough, although it's hardly a rocketship. With a 0-62mph time of 5.4sec, it’s slightly quicker than the rival Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica Veloce (both 5.9sec), but much slower than the more powerful Smart #1 Brabus (3.9sec).
