SWIFT CARRERA 144

Sarah Wakely is impressed by the most recent tweaks to this popular model, which offers a very practical floorplan for campervanning couples
Swift Select first appeared as a range back in 2017, and the 144 layout – which features a rear lounge with facing sofas and a single dinette up front – has been available every year since.
That goes to show the model's popularity, so it's sure to be in demand for the coming year – but what else does the three-berth 144 offer for 2026? We visited the Swift factory in the East Riding of Yorkshire to find out.
Campervans are very much in vogue this year, so it's great to see that Swift has given the Carrera lineup a few tweaks to keep it fresh and bang up-to-date. The changes begin on the outside: it's still based on the Fiat Ducato, but this year comes in new Artense Grey, with a body-coloured grille and front bumper. Under the bonnet is Fiat's Euro 6E 140bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine with 6-speed manual gearbox (you can upgrade to a 140bhp, 2.2-litre engine with 8-speed automatic transmission for £2995).
This model is less than six metres long, and you do get some view out the back when you're driving, but the new digital reversing camera will be handy when you're parking or arriving at your pitch. There's no roll-out awning on the side as standard, but you can choose to have one as a dealer-fit option.
