KIA'S PETROL K4 TO TARGET GOLF IN UK BY END OF YEAR

New family hatch replaces Ceed – and an estate looks likely to follow

Kia has confirmed UK specifications for its new K4 hatchback, a Volkswagen Golf rival that will fill the gap left by the recently axed Ceed.

As first reported by Autocar, the K4 will arrive in UK showrooms by the end of this year.

It will be offered initially with a choice of 1.0-litre and 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engines, with an additional hybrid powertrain due next year.

The entry-level unit produces 113bhp and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The 1.6-litre engine, offered in 148bhp and 178bhp guises, is available exclusively with the seven-speed automatic.
