Autocar Professional hosted a masterclass in association with French technology giant Dassault Systemes to understand the how computational fluid dynamics simulations will help the automotive industry
-

The global automotive industry is undergoing a rapid transformation, what with the need to accelerate towards sustainable means of transportation. The electrification drive is imperative and vehicle manufacturers, including their suppliers as well as technology partners, are putting all their might to claim the first-mover advantage.
As a result, engineers are increasingly choosing modern ways of simulation for a faster time-to-market and shunning the conventional process of product development that ends up being considerably longer and cost-intensive as well. A faster throughput allows OEMs to become more cost-effective, thereby ending up being more competitive with respect to their vehicle pricing.
On September 6, Autocar Professional hosted a technical webinar in association with Dassault Systemes, with the latter's experts giving a glimpse into some of the company's solutions in offering computational fluid dynamics or CFD simulation tools that are enabling the transport industry to make strides in a highly dynamic business environment and make raid progress.
The hour-long Live masterclass on the topic Improving
product design development through high fidelity, LBM-based CFD simulations was enthusiastically attended by industry professionals and engineers working in the domains of aerodynamics, thermal management, powertrain and aeroacoustics among others, in the vehicle industry. The webinar focused on the key aspects of CFD simulations such as:
• The automated pre- and post-processing that reduces majority of design iteration time
• The elimination of manual efforts in boundary layer meshing
• True rotational geometries to capture real physics
• And faster design iterations with easy-to-perform design change scenarios
