London drivers to face higher congestion charge from 2026

TfL confirms intention to increase daily charge and make EV drivers pay
TRANSPORT for London has revealed plans not only to increase the cost of the London congestion charge by 20 per cent but also to end the exemption for electric vehicles, with its new proposals set to kick in from 2 January 2026.
The current charge - £15 per day - has been in place since 2020, and TfL's suggested increase will see that rise to £18. This, the organisation said, is below the UK's rate of inflation over the past five years.
