THIS is not a van. What you're looking at is the latest interpretation of the ultimate luxury car.
The VLE is the first of a new generation of high-end electric Mercedes models that prioritise space and luxury over traditional saloon car proportions. It's based on a brand-new, bespoke architecture, rather than a commercial vehicle.
This platform (ironically called VAN.EA) shares its 800V architecture with the new GLC and CLA, both of which introduce new platforms: MB.EA and MMA.
