Real Gains Don't Come From The Engine Alone

At EXCON 2025, Cummins Emission Solutions India underlined how real gains in fuel economy, uptime and compliance no longer come from the engine alone
As India's infrastructure cycle gathers momentum and regulatory expectations tighten, the role of emission aftertreatment systems has moved from being a compliance necessity to a strategic differentiator. At the 13th edition of CII EXCON, held in December 2025 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Cummins showcased how emissions, performance, fuel economy and future powertrain readiness are increasingly converging into a single systems-led conversation. Sachin Kondejkar, Vice President & Country Head - Cummins Emission Solutions India, offered a clear view into how the company is preparing OEMs and the wider ecosystem for the next phase of India's mobility and infrastructure journey.
At its core, Cummins Emission Solutions (CES) operates across three deeply technical pillars of chemistry, controls and filtration. While engines remain central to performance, Sachin Kondejkar stressed that emission compliance today is equally dependent on how efficiently exhaust gases are treated, monitored and sustained over long operating lives. “Emission systems are required to last for what regulations define as the ‘useful life’. That durability requirement makes system integration absolutely critical,” he explained.
