This Mumbai residence by AUM Architects is shaped by light, memory and intention
In a city defined by pace and density, finding stillness can feel aspirational. Aram, the 1,350 sq. ft. Mumbai residence of architect Manish Dikshit, stands as a deliberate counterpoint, an interior world shaped with the clarity and composure of someone designing a home for himself. The name “Aram”, a Tamil word suggesting a state of equilibrium, frames the project's intent.
The house is rooted in the architect’s own experiences and the sensibilities accumulated over years of travel, observation and practice. Memories, objects and materials form the base notes, yet the space avoids becoming autobiographical in a closed way. It is open for interpretation, much like a text layered enough to read differently with each visit. Manish set out to create a home that reflects its inhabitants, while remaining open to anyone who enters, an interior that reveals itself in measured fragments.
