Inspired by the timeless elegance of rural Sri Lankan traditions, each building is thoughtfully designed by architect Sunela Jayewardene to merge seamlessly with its surrounding landscape, creating a sanctuary of serenity unlike any other. Set against a backdrop of a carefully introduced wetland system on reclaimed agricultural lands, the property fosters a profound connection to the natural world. VISION ROOTED IN CONSERVATION

The architectural vision, entrusted to Sunela Jayawardena, was to create a distinctive eco-retreat that would become the premier choice for travellers visiting Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inspired by conservation initiatives such as the Barnes Wetland Centre in London, and the work of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), the goal was to develop a man-made nature reserve—an ecological refuge for species such as otters, crocodiles, and dragonflies—where habitat restoration and sustainable tourism could coexist.
