Pigs are intelligent, curious and extremely clean animals. Caring for them is rewarding but, as with all animals, they need the correct environment and care to thrive. Before buying your first pigs, whether you are considering weaners for bringing on for meat, or for breeding, many hoops need to be jumped and legislation that needs compliance. Your pig keeping begins inside your house so get going now!
REGISTERING YOUR LAND AND HERD MARKThe land where you intend to keep the pigs, needs to be registered with the Rural Payments Agency (RPA), who will issue you with a County Parish Holding (CPH) number.
