She might have fallen out with her family in the US, but the Duchess of Sussex has found a safe haven in her friendship with George and Amal Clooney – and never has she needed it more!

Amid mounting public criticism – including a cruel British satire show that portrays her as “trailer trash” – Meghan is believed to have taken refuge at the Clooneys’ estate in Lake Como, Italy and an insider tells Woman’s Day she’s having a “mini breakdown”.

“Meghan’s been hiding out at George and Amal’s for more than a week,” claims a well-placed source. “She’s been feeling increasingly like she’s in a goldfish bowl, so when Amal mentioned they’d be in Italy for the summer and invited her to stay, she jumped at the chance.

“Harry’s been extremely concerned about Meghan’s mental state and has been flying in and out in a private jet to see her and Archie whenever he can. Right now she needs some space away from prying eyes and just to de-stress, which Harry understands.”

Since marrying Harry, 34, in May last year and giving birth to baby Archie eight weeks ago, life in the public eye has become increasingly complicated for Meghan, 37. But in the past two weeks those stresses have become unbearable.
