For decades, Laura Furiosi was so overwhelmed by the pain of endometriosis that she could barely walk. Getting out of bed or even making it through a full day at work was made harder by the condition, which left her so exhausted she would sleep through her lunch breaks.

Diagnosed at 18, Laura’s world changed forever when she collapsed in the kitchen in extreme pain. Fearing her appendix had burst, doctors at Queensland’s North West Private Hospital instead discovered her “stabbing” pain was endometriosis – a painful disorder caused when uterus tissue grows outside the organ.
