Founder Judith Milgrom talks all things Maje Paris

How does your Moroccan heritage influence your design for Maje? I was born in Rabat/Morocco, a beautiful country which still has a special place in my heart, although I left when I was 10 years old to move to Paris with my family.

I’m still deeply attached to my homeland and I think it shows in my collections, which are always infused with bright colours and bold prints. The colours of the Moroccan sky, the flowers, the smells of different spices, all these memories are still very strong for me.

What has it been like shaping your brand with your family? How did you realise that you wanted to start a brand and did you foresee its success? I’ve always wanted to do something related to craftmanship or to be involved in artistic projects. I remember putting a lot of effort and spending much time to create each day a different look to go to school. I also liked stealing my father’s shirts and twist them.
