The southern Cape coast, particularly the area around Agulhas (the Portuguese Cabo das Agulhas translates as ‘Cape of the Needles’) is one of the most dangerous in the world – if you’re in a ship. If you’re on foot, though, and trundling along the section of the shoreline that falls within the De Hoop Nature Reserve, it’s also one of the most bewitchingly beautiful.
