The Indian cricket team has a severe challenge in its hands in the upcoming tour of England, comprising five Tests. This is India's first assignment in the new ICC World Test Championship 2-21-23 cycle. India, who reached the final of the 2019-21 WTC, were beaten convincingly by New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton to once again highlight their unsuccessful attempts in doing well in England. India have been perturbed by seam and swing and it's the batting that may be found wanting once again.

Out of their 18 tours here, India have sealed just three wins and one draw. The rest of the 15 Test series have been won by the home team. India last won a Test series in England back in 2007. Since then, in all three test series here, they have faced heavy defeats, losing 11 of the 13 Test matches. With another lengthy series on offer, England will be aiming to continue with their dominance against the number two ranked team in the ICC Test Rankings.

For India, this will be a test of their character under Virat Kohli. The Indian side of late has earned respectable wins but the elusive title in England is what the target will be. England-India Tests have promised aplenty of late and this time too things will be expected to go in the same vein. India will also need to better the numbers both individually and team-wise on English soil.
