It is 50 years since the Parisian venue hosted the finale of the Tour de France
Throughout the late 1890's a battle was raging for control of the administration of French cycling between the Union Vélocipédique de France (UVF) and the Union Cycliste de France (UCF). Key to winning the battle was support of France’s journals and newspapers, which held a major role in the promotion of bicycle events.
