Designed with big rides in mind, the modern version of an endurance bike first hit the scene some 16 years ago. The initial concept was to help alleviate the bone-shaking, palm-blistering impact of the rough terrain that some of the Spring Classics races had on professional riders. The crossover to the riding experienced by the general public was clear.

Specialized even named its vibrationdamping Roubaix – the model that gave birth to the endurance bike category – after the race that inspired it.
