Diabetes, describe a group of metabolic diseases in which the blood sugar level is high more than the normal.

Importance of HbA1c Test in Diabetes Management

So the monitoring of blood sugar level is very essential for all diabetic people. There are many methods of monitoring blood glucose levels i.e. regular blood sugar (it may be random sugar, fasting sugar or postprandial sugar) and an Hba1c test. Analysis of HbA1c or glycated heamoglobulin in blood provides the indication about an individual's average blood glucose levels during the previous 23 months. This is predicted the half life of the red blood cells (RBC). Now a day the HbA1c is recommended as a standard of care for testing and monitoring the diabetes. The result of this test gives a good guide to control the blood glucose level over a period of 2-3 months. It also helps in to know whether the treatment is on right path or not. The target of HbA1c value for people with diabetes is 6.5%. If the value is at this level or below, then it is control diabetic. If it is more than that, then it required some more improvement in diet restriction and life style modification to preserve the normal value. HbA1c mainly measured to determine how well a diabetes treatment plan (including medications, exercise or dietary changes) is working.

Management technique to lower the HbA1c level Following diabetes management plan can help to lower the HbA1c level;

1. Dietary modification

2. Physical activity

3. Medication

4. A combination of these.

1. Dietary modification
