The 2021 capture of a male tiger in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve was a high-stakes mission. The missteps made in this operation provide many lessons on wildlife management
THE SUCCESSFUL live capture of MDT23, an ailing male tiger at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu, was a daunting task marred by several missteps and challenges. By recounting the operation, I hope to inspire development of a new standard operating procedure for wildlife management.
