Ghaziabad's Tryst With Solid Waste Management

Solid Waste Management system has always been a serious concern for all urban local bodies. Being close to Delhi and as an important city of the State, Ghaziabad is in limelight for sanitation and other infrastructure facilities. People often tend to compare facilities of Ghaziabad city with the national capital, writes Divakar Mukherjee of Elets News Network (ENN).
With the ever increasing population and urbanisation, the waste management has emerged as a huge challenge in Ghaziabad. Not only the waste has increased in quantity, but the characteristics of waste have also changed tremendously over a period of time, with the introduction of so many new gadgets and equipment. Scientific disposal of solid waste through segregation, collection and treatment and disposal in an environmentally sound manner minimises the adverse impact on the environment.
