You can’t change the weather; all you can do is make the best of whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at you
Oxford glistened in the heat, this sandstone city of study shimmered through the looking glass of the August air. Omnipresent tourists, as if guided by some unseen video gamer pressing for a high score, dodged the traffic hazards (mostly cyclists), the hawkers touting their tours and fell through the gates into the various manicured parks.
As I sat, watching the world go by, I pondered what my client might be like and the images we were about to create. Today was a perfect day for it.
At times like this, I’d often be twitchy waiting for someone, but I was in one of the world’s great cities and, though it is only 20 minutes journey from my studio, it felt like a rare luxury to be there and the privilege of doing this job that I so love had not escaped me.
Eventually, through the bobbing sea of baseball caps and ‘I heart Oxford’ T-shirts, I caught sight of my clients strolling towards me, hand in hand, giggling as they meandered their way to our rendezvous point.
