‘Lockdown Strictest, Testing Lags'

Leading Oxford researcher tells India Today TV that it’s early to say if steps taken in India will be successful in containing Coronavirus

A comparative grid of policy measures implemented by countries to contain the spread of Coronavirus shows that India has the strictest lockdown in the world.

In an interview with India Today TV News Director Rahul Kanwal, Toby Phillips, head of Research and Policy at Digital Pathways at Oxford University said, “India has the stringiest measures like school closures, border closure, travel bans etc. We are measuring on these parametres because these are the kind of steps that the governments are taking to contain the spread of Coronavirus. However, it’s a little bit too early to say if these measures are successful.”

A tracker, based on data from 73 countries, that calculates governments’ response to Covid-19 has identified India’s response as one of the most stringent in the world.
