Sourav Ganguly files nomination, set to be elected unopposed as BCCI president

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is poised to take over as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India as nominations for the elections closed on Monday in Mumbai.

Ganguly, 47, was the only candidate to file his nomination for the top post after being unanimously chosen as the presidential candidate at a meeting in Mumbai late on Sunday night.

A competitive cricketer and a born leader who is also popularly known as the ‘Bengal tiger’ for his leadership skills, Ganguly is set to be elected unopposed when the BCCI elections are held on October 23.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah will be the new secretary while Arun Dhumal will be the new treasurer. Dhumal is younger brother of former BCCI president Anurag Thakur, now minister of state, finance.
