Rail prices surge today with a ‘nightmare’ 3.8% increase

RAIL passengers are expected be clobbered by the largest fare rises in almost a decade today.

People in England and Wales are facing 3.8% increases, the steepest since January 2013.

The Government capped 2022 price rises at that level in December but delayed them until March.

Shadow Transport Secretary Louise Haigh said: “This brutal Tory fare hike will be a nightmare for millions. Families are already facing tax rises and surging bills and will now be clobbered with yet another eye-watering rise in the cost of the commute.”
