Stop Meddling! Pm Warns Labour It Must Pass Rwanda Bill
Daily Express
|April 22, 2024
RISHI Sunak has demanded Labour stop "frustrating the will of the people" with endless "meddling and mischief" over the landmark Rwanda Bill.
The PM has said he will force the Lords to sit all night later today to back his bid to end the Channel migrants crisis.
A Government source claimed that Labour are intent on blocking the Bill without any thought for the thousands risking their lives monthly to try to enter the UK illegally.
The Tories have blamed Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and his party for "seizing every opportunity to meddle".
No10 aides have refused to commit to the first deportation flight taking off this spring in the latest sign the timeline is slipping in spite of urgent action being needed to end the crisis.
A Government source said: "The Prime Minister has been clear since day one that he is committed to stopping the boats.
"Since we introduced our Rwanda Bill in December, Labour has been seizing every opportunity to meddle and create mischief to delay its progress. This must come to an end."

They added: "Labour must respect the will of the British people and pass this Bill so that we can get flights off to Rwanda, secure our borders and stop the boats."
Last Wednesday the Lords rejected ministers' pleas to back down. The Bill would compel UK judges to regard the east African country as safe and give ministers the power to ignore emergency injunctions.
But peers renewed their demand that Rwanda cannot be treated as a safe country until an independent monitoring body has verified that the protections in a treaty signed with the UK are implemented.
