Bignot sets sights on National League
PROUD Marcus Bignot is helping develop the next generation of international talent with England U18s – and is drawing on his experiences to take Guiseley back to the National League.
The 45-year-old recently joined Ian Foster’s coaching staff as part of The Football Association’s Elite Coach Placement Programme to solve the challenge of under-represented black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) coaches.
Bignot, joint-boss of National League North side Guiseley with Russ O’Neill, first managed Birmingham City Ladies for seven years during his playing career, which saw him appear for the likes of Telford United, Kidderminster Harriers, Crewe Alexandra and Queens Park Rangers.
His first job in Non-League came at Solihull Moors followed by a spell at Chester after he earned a move into the Football League with Grimsby Town.
