BLUE HILL—The George Stevens Academy volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a 3-2 win over Jonesport-Beals at home on October 22, but it was not without drama and a little nail biting.
After easily handling the Royalettes for a 25-11 first-set win, the momentum shifted to the Jonesport side of the court in the second set. Jonesport recorded the first two points of the set to take an early 2-0 lead, but the Eagles responded with five straight points of their own to take a three-point lead. The set tied up at 9-9, and again at 11-11 and 15-15. The Royalettes then outscored GSA 4-1, forcing co-coach Aleta Schmidt to call a timeout. The score was tied five more times before Jonesport eventually took a 25-23 win, tying the match at 1-1.
