Remembering The Beginning - 1937
Redskins Warpath
|October 2017
Washington Redskins fans who lived through the Super Bowl glory years often wish they could turn back the clock to those days. Those who were not around then wish they could have born years earlier to have experienced that joy as well.
-

But what about the first time? There is nothing like the first time when it is all new and exciting. Then to top off the first time with a championship… well, it doesn’t get any better than that.
So why not turn the clock back 80 years ago this month – when the team that became known as the Washington Redskins played its first NFL game in the nation’s capital?
If nostalgia is all this team has left to sell, why not start at the beginning – a glorious beginning.
This is a milestone year – 2017. It’s the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Redskins mausoleum known as FedEx Field, and fans hang on every sliver of news of a new football stadium so they can leave the House that Jack Built behind in a rubble.
It may also be a milestone of sorts for a far more beloved home – RFK Stadium. Though the Redskins left that revered stadium at the end of the 1996 season, it has remained standing, used as the home for the D.C. United and, for the first three years they were in town, the Washington Nationals, among other events.

Bargains can be valuable additions
Raise your hand if you muttered derisively last offseason when the Washington Football Team signed free-agent tight end Logan Thomas away from the Detroit Lions.
