TAYLOR HAYDEN ROGERS & MATTHEW WILLIAM MCBRYDE JANUARY 12, 2019 • ATLANTA, GEORGIA
They started by swiping right. But what happened next is what changed both their lives forever.
“We were both new to Jackson,” explains Taylor Rogers of her online introduction to Matt McBryde. “We didn’t know many people. Neither of us was in a small group at our church yet, and we found it challenging to meet people in a smaller town like Jackson after both growing up in Atlanta.”
So when Taylor and Matt saw each other’s profiles on the dating app Bumble, they saw something special in each other’s smiling faces. Upon meeting in person, the two realized how much they had in common, including the fact that they had both recently settled in Mississippi after spending their early years in Georgia. The connection was immediate, and they were soon inseparable.
Matt planned his proposal for a trip the two were taking to Las Vegas with Taylor’s parents and sister to see George Strait in concert. “Little did I know there was a much bigger plan in place than just a concert!” Taylor recalls. “Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to visit, and it was his first time there. I had found a famous steakhouse I wanted to go to and made reservations for the family months out. I was completely unaware that I was making dinner reservations for the best dinner of my life. We went to cocktail hour, ate, and before we left, he popped the question!”
