Nathalie Pichard, a veteran in the fragrance industry, has worked with leading brands to develop and market their perfumes. On a visit to India, she spoke to us about what goes into the making of a new fragrance, and about her agency, Top Notes.

What made you give up a career in private law to work with fragrances? 

The world of scents and fragrances has been my passion since I was a little girl. I was always smelling people and trying to recognize the perfume they were wearing. I would collect miniatures, try them on and smell them. I had some books to learn from as well. I don’t regret studying law, because it has helped me in many ways as a freelancer.
