REAL-LIFE APPLICATIONS OF AUGMENTED REALITY & VIRTUAL REALITY
Exhibit
|January 2021
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) may have originated as a means of providing elevated entertainment and to increase the feeling of getting immersed in videogames, the technology has also parallelly developed to fulfil its original purpose, that is to provide virtual solutions to practical problems. As its development continues to see new innovations in gaming and entertainment, the technology is also rapidly expanding to health care, retail, engineering and more. While there are multiple global organisations working towards delivering the perfect AR & VR experience, there are five companies that stand out with their products. These include:
HTC VIVE PRO EYE
Taiwanese tech giant HTC recently introduced VIVE Pro Eye VR Headset. It includes advanced eye-tracking functionality within the headset that allows businesses to track user engagement and behaviour during virtual product demos. In light of the ongoing pandemic, the company has also taken active steps towards addressing the shift in academics. Due to the necessity of remote learning, HTC has introduced the VIVE Sync. It allows the users to create almost identical digital avatars of themselves, thus increasing student engagement and offering a close-to-real VR experience. Vive Sync also allows the users to synchronize files with OneDrive so that PowerPoints, PDFs, marketing videos, or 3D models can be synced and published easily to their respective virtual meeting spaces.
