BRINGING IN THE NEW WORLD ORDER WITH THE RAZOR SHARP RAKUL PREET SINGH
Exhibit
|June 2020
It has begun. The new era of the ‘new normal’. Where the shoots are at the comfort (or sometimes, discomfort) of your homes and interviews happen on video calls. While we may take a bit of time to adjust and adapt, one thing doesn’t seem to change - the candidness and pure happiness of having a conversation. With Rakulpreet Singh as a part of our one of its kind June issue, this was no less than a joy ride. The conversation that followed 2 minutes of ‘Can you hear me properly?’ banter, was one that was truly perceptive, thoughtful and definitely refreshing.

ex: Hi Rakul! Let’s dive right in to how your experience of shooting for our one-of-a-kind June cover? Self Shoot rather!
Can I be very honest? It wasn’t easy. I am not somebody who is pro at hair make-up or experimental. I am very basic when it comes to my own sense of style. I am also a horrible photographer, so for me to do this shoot was quite a challenge. But I guess, everybody is doing things they haven’t done before this quarantine. It did turn out to be a lot of fun.
ex: While the lockdown has had its share of problems, we also had a lot of spare time on our hand. Did you take up any new hobby/activity?
I have been doing a lot of reading and watching shows, just like everyone else right now. I extended my Yoga and meditation which took up a lot of time and reading. I also did some online courses.
Honestly, I kept myself busy and there wasn’t even +one day where I felt ‘Oh my God, what do I do?’ There was so much to do and some days I wanted to do this and that and ended up baking a cake because I really wanted to do that as well. (laughs) I loaded myself with a lot of work which worked for me because I like keeping busy.
ex: What were these courses about?
So, I did a crash course on MBA. I also did one to do with Investment Banking - stocks, shares and the market. Then, I completed Inner Engineering which is about harnessing your inner energy because I have a strong inclination towards spirituality.
ex: Oh interesting, should B-school graduates be scared about their jobs right now?
