A Word With The Manager

I Take Great Pride In The Fact We've Won Seven Trophies In A Row, But My Happiness Is More For The Players And The Fans

BRENDAN Rodgers took charge of Celtic for the 150th time in competitive action on Sunday, and it proved to be a particularly special milestone as his team beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Hampden to lift the League Cup for the third year in a row.

It now means that the manager has won seven domestic trophies in a row – a 100 per cent record – and within that are some incredible statistics. Of the 150 games Celtic have played under his stewardship, the Hoops have won 105 of them and drawn 24, while suffering just 21 defeats. In the process, they’ve scored 334 goals and conceded 122, the latest goal in the ‘For’ column provided by Ryan Christie at the National Stadium.

And the midfielder’s emergence as a player of note over the past couple of months is another sign, beyond the impressive statistics and plethora of silverware, of Brendan Rodgers’ impact at the club.

Christie is only the latest Celtic player to have benefited from the guidance offered by the Hoops boss, with his improvement in performance a visible sign of the Irishman’s influence.
