Bespoke Grandeur

Custom furnishings boasting multi-functional features make this shoebox apartment feel more spacious than its modest size

Given their snug dimensions, most shoebox apartments best accommodate one to two occupants – any more than that will only make the tight quarters feel cramped. The design team at Richfield Integrated, led by Design Manager Veronica Laborte with designer Chong Kah Hin, was issued such a challenge: to make a 485-square feet and two-bedroom condominium apartment in St Thomas Walk a comfortable home for three.

The idea of three individuals packed in such a tight space might prove unbearable for the long term, but luckily the Indonesian family who owns the unit only use it as a home away from home. Their brief to the designers, was to create a well-planned and homely residence with hotel-inspired interiors.
