Floristry studio Braer reveals why locally grown flowers are best and what to look for in autumn.
DO YOU KNOW WHERE your last bunch of blooms was grown? Buying Aussie flowers isn’t as easy as you’d think, which is why in 2015 Azzmin Rayment and Georgia Potter founded Braer, a floristry shop and studio located in Bangalow, NSW. “When we started working in this industry, we were shocked to learn that the majority of flowers sold by florists are imported,” says Georgia. “It feels unnecessary when Australian farmers work so hard to grow and sell their blooms.” Braer is proudly part of the “Slow Flower” movement which promotes local growers. “We find Australian flowers are fresher, more robust and good value.
