Hour of the month: CITY LIGHTS

DRAWING ROOM

The drawing room is a formal affair. A neutral-toned carpet sets the colour palette, which is furnished with white, grey and brown-toned sofas from Minotti and marble-accented coffee tables (B&B Italia). The pop of colour is offered by two lounge chairs from B&B Italia. The drawing room’s most eye-catching element is a lighting artwork Chlorophilia from Artemide, which, when lit casts a lustrous shadow pattern on the ceiling.

Jaw-dropping, endless views of the verdant golf course through glassed façade of the 14th and 15th floor… the 6,000 sq ft penthouse at DLF Magnolias, designed by Ar. Rudraksh Charan and Ar. Priyanka Khanna of 42 MM Architecture balances beauty and functionality with ease. Home to Akhilesh and Rachna Chaudhary, their parents and children, the layout of the house was done keeping in mind two factors — the unenviable natural light and the magnificent view. ‘This home has a minimalist anatomy that sets the spotlight on the aerial panorama. The clients dreamt of a spacious and full of light apartment. The guideline was simple — to create a modern and minimalist design,’ explains Rudraksh.

LIVING ROOM

The living room is ‘a post-modernist hangover’ as the owners wanted a retro look. The sofas and chaise from B&B Italia preside over the room, in front of which stands a sleek, rounded coffee table from Poliform. A sculptural chandelier by Roll and Hill complements a minimalist clock wall piece. The use of wood is sparing, and never incidental, it is not used to over-glamorise the space, but rather furnish a sense of completeness and add a layer of warmth.
