This all-black family home sports the look and feel of an upscale boutique hotel while being highly functional and affordable, thanks to meticulous planning and detailing. Here’s what MELODY BAY learned.

Keng and Si Yi, both educators in their 30s, see every home as a new adventure. With their two young children and pet dog Mika, they moved into their latest, an executive condominium in Anchorvale, in December 2020.

Since each is a chance to create something unique, they asked Carmen Tang of Wolf Woof to design a dramatic, all-black look for this one. Compared to their previous home and its red-brick industrial style, this was vastly different.

The look Carmen created is luxurious, functional, and comfortable. Because of her clever use of textures, lighting, and greenery, black is the main focus, but it’s far from boring.
