A fish for all seasons
Shooting Times & Country

Anyone who suggests catching with every cast is dull should pay the mackerel a visit

Fishing is a simple pleasure that can be made as complicated as you would like it to be. As with most sports, there is no end of gear to get your hands on and, much like the smartphone, there is always a newer and better version about to be released.
Some of us are loyal and trust in the tackle we’ve had for years. Those who are can be heard justifying their battle-worn gear to other fishers — “It’s always done the job” or “You don’t need to cast that far, anyway”. Others can’t resist another for the armory. They live by the formula: N + 1 = the optimal number of rods. ‘N’ is the number of rods they already have.
All in the timing
